Song of the Week – June 1

Filed under: industrial rock, Nine Inch Nails, Song of the Week, Trent Reznor

Nine Inch Nails Capital G is the second single of Trent Reznor’s latest project. This track has been described as “faux hip-hop” but it’s still full imbued with the industrial rock instrumentation and production of Reznor’s earlier work.

Capital G is part of the story line of the album Year Zero an Orwellian nightmare set in the year 2022. Reznor and guerilla marketeers 42 Entertainment have surrounded the album with shadowy websites and coded messages on NIN t-shirts, and thumb drives left around concert venues, so that the paranoia and fantasy world of the album has a multimedia manifestation worthy of a virtual reality project. Heavy stuff, but guaranteed to fuel the devoted NIN fan into further devotion.
