Maroon 5 garners the last song of the week for 2007 with “Won’t Go Home Without You”, for those of you following along at home…. The third single off this year’s “It Won’t Be Soon Before Long” album, took awhile to grow on me, but almost every track on the album is so tight and finely produced that they take a few listens to appreciate.

The band’s website is slick but somewhat limited, but it’s a good place to catch the video for “Won’t Go Home Without You”

Song of the Week – July 27th

Sorry, catching up here. The preparing for the PanMassChallenge took me offline for a bit, but here’s a worthy bit to catch up on….
The Last Goodnight - Poison Kiss
“Pictures of You” from the group The Last Goodnight is the first single off an album (Poison Kiss) due out August 28th. The rest of the released tracks are also musically rich and complex songs that are very listenable. ‘Pictures’ starts out with a Steely Dan sound but transitions quickly into a more modern piano & guitar band sound (Fountains of Wayne, FastBall, Maroon 5), strong but not heavy. It’s a really interesting mix of styles which makes each track different. This Enfield Connecticutt spawned band has got tremendous talent.

The single ‘Poison Kiss’ isn’t getting airplay yet, but it’s as good or better than ‘Pictures of You’. If these two are any indication the album will be outstanding.

Their website isn’t totally obvious TheLastGoodnight.net

Their MySpace page is….

I have generally avoided selecting major label Top 40 veterans for Song of the Week because they frankly don’t need the help…they’re going to be overexposed within weeks anyway. Such is undoubtedly the case for Maroon 5’s “Makes Me Wonder”, the first single from the yet to be released album “It Won’t Be Soon Before Long”, but the singles rocket to the top of several charts demands recognition. “Makes Me Wonder” is the first of Maroon 5’s singles to top the charts, despite the popularity of 2004’s “She Will be Loved”, “Harder to Breathe” and “This Love”.
